Donate a Bit
Donate a Bit and revolutionize global philanthrophy through blockchain technology
About us
Donate a Bit is a non-profit organization. Powered by Bitcoin.
Bitcoin essence
In principle Bitcoin1 stands for a ‘new world order’. A new financial world separate from the big capital. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are more than just make quick money. They will change the world in the long term.
Bitcoin is revolutionary and has the potential to function as a global currency independent from the financial system2 as we know it. Bitcoin was designed to make the world a more transparant, fairer and equal place.
Anyone with a smartphone or computer can use this new digital money. Not only in the western world, but also in the developing countries around the world. Bitcoin and other cryptcurrencies can be traded but can also be donated to people in need and charity organizations with little expense. Imagine a world where you can help every person in need with the touch of a button.
Donating Bitcoin is a great way to express your compassion regardless of who and where you are. Bitcoin does not discriminate on the basis of borders, religion, race, gender or social status.
Where we stand for
Donate a Bit offers a platform where you can find charity organizations that are willing to receive donations in Bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrencies.
Our goal is also to encourage charity organizations and donors to start using this new technology which will ultimately change the world.
We are not an intermediary. Donations are deposited directly,3 or in some cases indirectly4, into the wallets of the charity organizations.
With your help, we will support established charity organizations in their effort to present their goals internationally and to collect additional funding for their charitable initiatives.
Donate a Bit will also encourage companies in the cryptocurrency industry to donate small amounts of their profits to these charity organizations to help improve the image of cryptocurrencies worldwide
The great challenge
Currently fundraising organizations are hardly making use of the possibility to collect cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. As this is a new way of fundraising the possibilities are numerous for the charity organizations as well as their target groups. There are no issues to be expected concerning current legislation and regulations.
Over the recent years, donors have become increasingly critical towards the fact that their donations were not received in full by those intended. Banking costs is one of the main reason for this.
As there is no third party, like banks, involved when using cryptocurrencies, transaction costs of these currencies are very low and in some cases zero. This is one of their great advantages and enables the recipient to receive as good as the entire amount of the donation.
Another advantage of using cryptocurrencies is their transaction speed which are far more faster than traditional bank transactions. Also digital currencies are not subject to international fluctuating exchange rates.
How we work
Initially Donate a Bit will serve as a platform whereas donors are given the opportunity to donate cryptocurrencies to a charity of their choosing. Subsequently, with your help as a participant, we intend to develop and implement these applications for charity organizations themselves. Our aim is to create more transparency5 concerning the charity industry by using this new blockchain technology. Donate a Bit and revolutionize global philanthropy through blockchain technology.

Bitcoin
Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, a form of digital money, based on blockchain technology. It is a decentralized digital currency which means that there are no third parties needed, like central banks for instance, to send and receive Bitcoin between users.
Using cryptography to keep exchanges between users secure, the blockchain provides a decentralize database or digital ledger of transactions that everyone on the network can see and follow. This network is essentially a chain of computers that verifies and process the transactions.
All wallet addresses and transactions are unique and cannot be changed by anyone. -
